Eddie Vedder Accepts ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Eddie Vedder is taking part in the viral campaign to raise awareness about ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease. He accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge from his Pearl Jam bandmate Mike McCready this weekend, and then issued a challenge of his own.

Vedder also challenged actor Tim Robbins and -- after getting some input from his two young daughters -- Niall Horan of One Direction. He added that he was participating in honor of the band's good friend Steve Gleason, the former New Orleans Saints football player who is currently battling ALS. The "Ice Bucket Challenge has already helped the ALS Association raise four-million dollars this year, which is almost four-times as much as the charity raised last year.
